Our History

The story of our schools began with the passion of a Montessori teacher who felt there was a better way to educate children and took the step of establishing a Montessori school with a new vision for developing young minds. Our Director, Ms. Suman, has over 30 years of experience in the field of education. She provides educational excellence through her unique teaching abilities and the development of innovative academic programs. Ms. Suman founded Montessori Academy of Farmington Hills in 2005.

The innovative early childhood methods and curriculum of Montessori Academy of Farmington Hills attracted the attention of parents from all over southeastern Michigan. Initially beginning with only one student and one teacher, the Montessori Academy of Farmington Hills expanded their facilities to offer programs for infants through 5th grade. Over the years, our program grew steadily, becoming recognized for its strong academics and focus on early learning, its innovative curriculum, and its commitment to delivering an authentic Montessori education.  Today, the Montessori Academy of Farmington Hills is well known as one of the premier Montessori schools in the state of Michigan.

With the increased interest and growing demand from parents, the school expanded to three campuses to better serve families in Metro Detroit and southeastern Michigan. Our program has now grown into the Montessori Academies of Michigan, consisting of three schools in southeastern Michigan including the Montessori Academy of Ann Arbor (also known as Green House Montessori School) in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Montessori Academy of Canton in Canton, Michigan. With these three locations, our Montessori Academies are uniquely positioned to provide an exceptional early childhood education to families throughout Oakland, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties.
