Practical Life

Practical Life is the foundation of the Montessori Method and is the building block of the other major subjects (Language, Sensorial, Culture, and Mathematics). This educational cornerstone helps to develop confidence, concentration, coordination, self-awareness, self-control, and independence skills, allowing children to master the other areas of the Montessori curriculum. These activities are imperative to allow children to explore their natural curiosities. Through this, they become independent, self-reliant, and learn how to function in their own environment and their world.

The four main components of Practical Life are

  • Care of self
  • Care of the environment
  • Grace and courtesy
  • Control of movement
